Nvidia is bringing an end to the Pascal-powered 10 series GPUs with the Nvidia GT 1030 that will be coming out soon. This is a low-end GPU that will be competing with the AMD RX 550. Another new GPU that was not there in the previous RX 400 series. The AMD RX 550 is also an entry-level GPU that has been designed for gamers that only play online multiplayer games.
One of the benefits of using the AMD RX 550 is that it does not need external power. It gets enough power from the motherboard, which is all that it needs. This is something that internet cafes and people on a budget might be interested in as they do not need to change their power supply. If you have a pre-built PC then you can add the GPU and get into gaming.
Like the AMD RX 550, the Nvidia GT 1030 will also work on the same principle. It will not need additional power and we already know that Nvidia GPUs are better when it comes to power efficiency, so it is no surprise that the AMD RX 550 uses 50W while the Nvidia GT 1030 only needs 35W.
Nvidia already has GPUs under the $150 mark, the GTX 1050 and the GTX 1050 Ti. AMD Released the AMD RX 550 below the $100 mark, this could be the reason why Nvidia is now getting into this price point as well. Nvidia has released a GPU for every single price point that AMD has gone after. On the other hand, AMD has been unable to compete with the GTX 1080 and 1080 Ti.
We will have to see how well the Nvidia GT 1030 performs as compared to the RX 550 and I would not be surprised if team green ends up coming on top at this price point as well. The Nvidia GT 1030 has the following features:
- GP108 GPU
- 512 stream processors
- 32 TMUs
- 16 ROPs
- 2GB/4GB of RAM
- 128-bit memory bus
