Sony has announced the various free Playstation Plus games for the month of May, giving out six games on all three of its main Playstation systems free of charge. The games include titles like Telltale’s Tales from the Borderlands and Thatgamecompany’s relaxing exploration game Abzu, both for the Playstation 4.
Other games include Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants, and Blood Knights for the Playstation 3. For the Playstation Vita the games are Laser Disco Defenders, and Type: Rider. However, Abzu is only available for Playstation Plus owners in North America. If you own a Playstation in Europe, instead you’ll get Alienation.
Alienation, while not as pretty as Abzu, is still a fairly well-reviewed twin-stick shooter made by Housemarque where you and some friends work together to fight off an alien invasion, so depending on your tastes either continent could have gotten the short end of the stick.
Telltale’s Tales from the Borderlands is a good catch regardless of whether you can buy Abzu or Alienation, however, being a story that takes place in Gearbox Studio’s wasteland world of Pandora. Seen as one of Telltale’s better titles, Tales from the Borderlands tells the tale of a Hyperion employee named Rhys as he tries to move up in the ranks of Hyperion Corporation by finding a new Vault.
The various free Playstation Plus games that Sony has normally offered have often been the subject of ridicule for their poor quality, especially when they’re compared to the Xbox One Games with Gold service that Microsoft has, which also often has better games along with it.
While the free Playstation Plus games for this month do have some quality to them, time will tell if more people decide that the games actually appeal to this month, and end up deciding to download them. If they appeal to you, you’ll be able to download them at the beginning of May.
