Here Is A Workaround For Outlast 2 Kaspersky Anti-Virus Issue

Red Barrels Studio has launched the highly anticipated game, Outlast 2, for PC and consoles. PC ports of multiplatform games have been encountering issues like NieR Automata, and Outlast 2 is also facing issues of its own on PC. Aside from regular crashes and errors, Outlast 2 is also facing an issue with Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus users have been reporting that the anti-virus has been detecting the executable file of the game “Outlast.exe” as a trojan and is deleting it. According to the devs themselves, it is a “false positive” and is in talks with Kaspersky to fix the issue.

So until the fix arrives for this Outlast 2 Kaspersky Anti-Virus Issue, here is a workaround/temporary fix that will get your game going if Kaspersky Anti-Virus is detecting the Exe file as a trojan. Follow the following steps and you will be able to run the game.

  • If the anti-virus has already flagged the Outlast.exe as a trojan then it is likely that the file has already been deleted. We will have to bring the file back and for that open Steam and go to your game library, right click on Outlast 2 and select properties and select the Local Files” tab and then select Verify Integrity Of Game Files. Steam will detect the missing file and will replace it.
  • Now go and right-click on the Kaspersky icon in the system tray and select settings, then select “Additional” and select “Threats and Exclusions”. Then click on “Manage Exclusions” and in the exclusion window click on “Add”. Navigate through the library to the Outlast 2.exe and click select.
  • The Outlast 2.exe file will be located in your Steam library, which usually is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Outlast 2\Binaries\Win64\Outlast2.exe, however, this may change if you have set up the library in another drive.
  • Also, some users have reported that the .exe file needs to be added to the list of trusted programs. For that, click on “Specify Trusted Applications” located directly under “Manage Exclusions”.  Now close the anti-virus window and start the game.

Outlast 2 is a first-person horror survival game developed by Red barrels Studio for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
