The original Outlast was a great success and since the game was well received by critics and fans of survival horror genre, a sequel was inevitable. Now, Outlast 2 has been released and I will have to say that it isn’t a bad iteration in the series.
The game has also been released on PC along with other platforms and as far as the PC port is concerned, early impressions are great and the game isn’t facing as many issues on launch. Apart from the complaints that the game is too short, from the technical point of view, there are only a few issues that are being reported.
To address those issues, I am sure that the developer will roll out some patches but in the meanwhile, you could check out our possible fixes for the problems you might be facing related to Outlast 2.
#1 Outlast 2 Kaspersky Sky Issue, False Positive
Some users have reported that their game is being flagged by Kaspersky antivirus tool. If you are facing this issue too then you should know that it’s a false positive. As a precautionary measure, you should disable Kaspersky before installation or just add a filter for the game. For the time being, disabling Kaspersky/adding exception is the only workaround if you want to run Outlast 2.
#2 Outlast 2 Freezes the Entire PC
There have been some reports about the game freezing at options or during the gameplay leaving no option but to hard reset the PC. If that’s the case with you, you should try to disable third party applications running in the background. Disabling your antivirus/security tool temporarily could also resolve the issue.
#3 Outlast 2 The Game is Locked at 24 FPS
First things first, make sure that your GPU drivers are up to date. If that’s not the problem, you should try to change the refresh rate for your monitor. If you are using 120 Hz, try running the game on 60hz and see if this fixes the problem.
#4 Outlast 2 Game Crashes on Startup
First, you should try the workarounds mentioned above (disabling the antivirus). If that doesn’t fix the issue, you should verify your game files via Steam.
#5 Outlast Does Not Start – Lost File Error
If you are getting this error, then it’s most probably due to your antivirus deleting some files of the game when you try to execute it. Sometimes, antivirus tools detect the normal executables as malicious and block them without your consent. In that case, you should either disable your antivirus temporarily or add an exception for the executable file being deleted.
