Following its announcement in December, it is fair to say that the information stream for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite has been pretty unsatisfactory. It is only logical to assume that Capcom is saving details for its press briefing at E3 2017, which will take place in the next couple of months. However, it appears that unofficial channels have taken it upon themselves to make the information available to the public sooner.
Yesterday, Ryce posted on NeoGAF to reveal that the information embargo on Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is scheduled to lift at the end of this week. He is the same individual who previously leaked the game’s existence before the actual announcement. Hence, there is credibility to his statements. According to Ryce, Capcom has “big surprises” for fans but will not leak them out of respect for the developer.
Shortly after, French website Jeuxvideo released the names of eight characters ahead of the official announcement. It appeared to be a mistake since the post was taken down right after. However, it was not before the names were jotted down by everyone.
- Chris Redfield
- Rocket Raccoon
- Strider Hiryu
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hitting theaters in the United Kingdom this weekend, it makes sense for Capcom to take the opportunity to announce the genetically engineered individual. Besides the raccoon, Ultron stands out as the only new character inbound for the new brawler. To be fair, his confirmation was already hinted through previously released teaser trailers.
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It is slated for a release this year, with Capcom looking to push the game out earlier than fall. That being said, the developer has noted that it will make sure the game is polished enough before hitting shelves.
