Call of Duty: WWII is releasing this year thanks to Sledgehammer Games. The developers are finally going back to World War 2 setting, where COD began. The focus will be the single player campaign and earlier reports mention that Sledgehammer is going for a standalone game.
The story will have a proper start, middle, and end without any cliffhangers. Being standalone indicates that there may not be a continuation of this particular story in the future. Moreover, 2 years ago Treyarch released its Black Ops 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game featured a co-op story campaign and that feature is returning for Call of Duty: WWII. Whether it is 2 or 4 player co-op remains to be seen.
Everything sounds good so far but one thing that can act as the cherry on top here is that inclusion of a remaster. Similar to how Infinite Warfare had Modern Warfare remastered, one of the best Call of Duty games, Call of Duty 2, should be remastered to go along with Call of Duty: WWII.
Call of Duty 2 was set during the World War 2 era and told the stories of different soldiers, similar to what Battlefield 1 did last year. Seeing a remastered to of this classic can give us a look at just how far we have come with COD: WWII. Call of Duty 2 is the winner of 80 Game of the Year awards, a title that set the standard for all WW shooters of that time. It deserves a day in the new-gen with overhauled visuals, audio, animations, the whole nine-yard.
It is a great idea but I would love to know what you guys feel about a COD 2 remastered?
Call of Duty: WWII is releasing on November 3 (rumored) on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A trailer is coming out on April 26, according to Activision. Multiplayer reveal is set for E3 2017, where Sony will do the honors and discuss the game in detail.
