PlayStation 4 users will have Call of Duty: WWII timed exclusive maps, according to the game’s listing on Amazon. The timed exclusivity is the result of a partnership between Sony and Activision, the partnership allows Sony to have timed exclusive DLC and access to beta early.
How many maps will the developers release alongside the game is unknown but details are expected to arrive on April 26. Call of Duty: WWII was announced earlier via a teaser image. The worldwide reveal will offer the first trailer for the new game.
PlayStation will not only have timed exclusive maps and other content but similar to Infinite Warfare, “Private Beta” access is expected early on PlayStation 4. Call of Duty: WWII “Private Beta” will be hosted by Activision but open sign-ups might not be on the cards. Similar to Star Wars Battlefront 2, entering the beta is tied to pre-ordering. Players who pre-order Call of Duty: WWII will have access to the “Private Beta” for the game.
The focus will be the single player campaign and earlier reports mention that Sledgehammer is going for a standalone game. The story will have a proper start, middle, and end without any cliffhangers. Being standalone indicates that there may not be a continuation of this particular story in the future.
Moreover, 2 years ago Treyarch released its Black Ops 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game featured a co-op story campaign and that feature is returning for Call of Duty: WWII. Whether it is 2 or 4 player co-op remains to be seen.
Call of Duty: WWII is releasing on November 3 (unconfirmed) for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
