With the official specs revealed for the upcoming Xbox One Scorpio, many of you might be wondering whether PS4 Pro or Xbox Scorpio is the best console for 4K gaming. There are many factors that will determine which console is best for the 4K gaming.
So, we are doing Xbox Scorpio Vs PS4 Pro so that you may understand which 4K console is best for you in terms of performance, image quality, and price.
With the release of PS4 Pro, the games are now supporting the 4K resolution with HDR. However, each of the consoles has its own method to run games at 4K resolution, because of the consoles having different specs, like Scorpio having 6 TFLOPs of computational power will run a game better at 4K resolution compared to PS4 Pro’s 4.2 TFLOPs.
However, Ps4 Pro does not exactly run games at native 4K, instead, it uses a technique called checkerboarding to run games at near 4K resolution. This technique converts a 2×2 pixel to a 4×4 equivalent without much loss in image quality. On the other hand, Xbox One Scorpio is able to run games at native 4K.
Aside from games, both consoles support Netflix and Youtube with 4K HDR, which mean on both consoles you will be able to watch your favorite shows at 4K resolution. However, Xbox One Scorpio takes an upper hand in this comparison due to the inclusion of 4K Bluray Drive.
The PS4 Pro utilizes a 8 core x86 AMD Jaguar processor clocked at 2.1 GHz and armed with a GPU with 4.2 TFLOPs of computational power, which is a significant improvement over standard PS4’s 1.8 TFLOPs. Sony’s upgraded console also have extra RAM to bump up the transfer speed to 218 GB/sec.
As for Xbox One Scorpio, will arrive with a custom 8 Core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, the GPU is capable of outputting 6 TFLOPs of computational power. Microsoft’s upcoming console will come with a 12 GB of RAM to bump the transfer speed to 326 GB/sec.
Price And Release
Comparing the prices of both consoles is impossible at the moment given that Microsoft is yet to announce the price for Xbox One Scorpio. However, industry analysts have already said that price is the only factor that would cause the demise of Xbox One Scorpio, and it would be suicide if the console is priced more than $399.
As for the release, Scorpio is scheduled to launch for this holiday season and we Microsoft is yet to announce the exact release date for the console. However, according to Digital Foundry, Microsoft is running ahead of scheduled and might be well stocked as the console launches.
There will no Scorpio exclusive games as the games released for Scorpio will also launch for Xbox One, same goes for PS4 Pro. However, Scorpio will be capable of VR and Microsoft will most likely use the Oculus Rift while the Pro uses the PSVR headset.
