A Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date may have just been leaked, saying that the sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles may be coming out sometime this autumn.
Previously, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima had said on the recent Nintendo Direct that it would release before the end of 2017, but without an actual release date.
Since then, the UK retailer Argos has leaked that the game will be releasing sometime in Autumn, meaning sometime between late September and December.
However, that’s just a regular placeholder date. It’s likely that we won’t get an actual release date until Nintendo comes to E3 2017 and gives us an actual date.
Nintendo has a lot of games coming for the Switch that they unveiled at their Nintendo Switch press event back in January; these included games like Fire Emblem Warriors, Splatoon 2, Shin Megami Tensei, ARMS, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, a new No More Heroes game, and Super Mario Odyssey, many of which don’t have any real release dates yet beyond just this year.
If the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date does turn out to be sometime in autumn, we can likely expect it to be a November or October title, or even September. Xenoblade Chronicles is seen as a classic Nintendo game, with its main protagonist, Shulk, getting a spot on the roster of the previous Super Smash Bros game.
Considering the success of its spin-off game Xenoblade Chronicles X, the Xeno series will likely give a good showing when Xenoblade Chronicles 2 releases.
While we may not see Shulk again, hopefully the characters and writing that made the first Xenoblade Chronicles such a success will still be part of the series.
Either way, all we can do now is wait for Nintendo to announce an actual Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date. Whether that comes at E3 or a future Nintendo Direct, however, remains to be seen.
