Namco is brining us a treat in the form of a selection of 80s arcade game back catalogue. The classic titles will be available on Nintendo Switch. Namco is calling the “Namco Museum.”
The selection will include some memorable games such as Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaga and Galaga ’88 as well as some lesser known titles. Namco is also introducing a ranking system where you can compare your score with friends and compete to be at the top of the food chain.
A build-in feature will allow players to hold Switch vertically for a more nostalgic arcade gaming experience. A final release date is yet to be confirmed but we hear Namco has a Summer release window in mind.
- Dig Dug
- Galaga ’88

A proper virtual console is not there but there are plenty of vintage classics available to the players via Nintendo eShop.
Such are the reasons why some developers consider Nintendo Switch the best handheld in the market today. According to CEO at Sixfoot, Christian Svensson, Nintendo Switch has the ability to recapture its audience, especially, those who left after Wii.
I think that the Switch has the ability to recapture some of the Wii magic in a couple of different ways. But a lot of it has to do with the fact that it’s a 2-in-1 system. The fact that it is trying to be a portable and a home console all in one package — first of all, it’s an easy sell from a value for money family purchase standpoint.
