But why is that the case? This is something that analysts have been working on for some time now.
According to Exor Devs this was due to the lack of first party games and lack of third party support for Microsoft Xbox One. According to Pawel Lekki, Chief Operating Officer, Exor:
“I think they clearly underestimated gaming as the main driving force for console sales. They simply didn’t put enough effort into providing good 1st party games and great third party development support,”
The developer also thinks that this is something of the past and that Microsoft will be introducing new games and encouraging better third party support in the future.
Considering how Microsoft has been focused on Project Scorpio and has few first party games I would not be so sure about that just yet.
“It looks like they’ve completely refocused on games so I’m expecting good things from the Xbox team in the future,”
The developer was also asked about whether or not they would consider making games for the Nintendo Switch and this is what they had to say about that:
“We obviously prefer playing with strong hardware, but if players want to play our games on the Switch then we’ll bring them there. We aren’t working on a Switch version of X-Morph: Defense, but I wouldn’t completely rule it out,”
We heard something similar about OverWatch a few days back and it seems that this kind of statement is a norm when it comes to the Nintendo Switch. The hardware seems to be the issue here and developers are not willing to redesign games for the new hybrid console.
