Two-and-a-half minutes of new Tekken 7 footage has been released by Bandai-Namco, showing off an intense Jin vs Xiaoyu fight to get us hyped up for when Tekken 7 finally releases in the west on June 2 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The game has previously been exclusive to arcade cabinets.
The video may be short, but it’s pretty intense as Jin and Xiaoyu fight one another on a destroyed rooftop in the middle of a war-torn city.
Buildings have holes blasted in them and some are burning, while helicopters and fighter jets zoom through the buildings.
Combat in the game looks fast and fluid, and the graphics look amazing; Xiaoyu’s kimono flaps around as she kicks at Jin, and the city, though overcast, looks very detailed even with the fire.
We also get to see that the fighting areas are actually bigger than a single area; at one point Jin kicks Xiaoyu off the roof they’re fighting on onto another, smaller roof.
The new Tekken 7 footage can come as a boon to fighting game fans, considering that Tekken 7 has been in the works for years but has until now only been released in arcade machines and even then only in limited runs.
However, when June rolls around, Western audiences will finally be getting the game on home consoles, in particular the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Unfortunately, cross-platform play won’t be possible on the game due to a variety of shenanigans that have happened over the course of the game’s development between Sony and Microsoft.
In the meantime, hopefully Bandai-Namco will be releasing more new Tekken 7 footage in the future, featuring more characters, so that we can learn even more about the game when it comes out.
Once again, Tekken 7 will be releasing on June 2, 2017, for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
