Blizzard has released a new digital comic that provides plenty of hints about the upcoming King’s Row event. Titled Overwatch Uprising, the story is set in the earlier days of the game when Tracer recently joined the group and Genji was wearing a prototype of his current armor.
The plot features a group of extremist robots that have taken hostages. Overwatch is forbidden to interfere and Commander Jack Morrison has to make a call on either letting innocent civilians die or disobey the British Government.
Seven years into Overwatch’s past – on the eve of a historic peace accord- King’s Row is seized by an extremist faction of robots known as Null Sector. The British government forbids Overwatch from interceding, which means Strike Commander Jack Morrison must decide whether to disobey orders or stand by while thousands of lives are in peril.
As many have speculated the April 11 event has something to do with King’s Row. This comic indicates that Mercy, Torbjorn, Tracer, and Reinhardt will be playable characters this time.
Blizzard claims that this is the best thing they have ever done since the game launched. Well, we will see that for ourselves next week. Until then players can enjoy the Overwatch Uprising comic and see how some of their favorite characters like Genji, Tracer, and Widowmaker looked in the past. Telling backstories about characters and events is a good move, it will make players more emotionally attached to Overwatch.
I have always loved video game comics. They tell you in-depth stories that do not make it in full games. Genji has always been my favorite and seeing him in his earlier prototype armor is absolutely amazing, Tracer also looks very young and childish, well she has not changed much still.
I do not want to spoil it for you by going further into the details, you should check it out for yourself in Overwatch Uprising comic. Hopefully, you will enjoy it as much as I did.
