The PS4 exclusive game, Spider-Man, from Insomniac Games was revealed during E3 2016 and still not much is known about the game including its release date. However, Marvel has sort of confirmed that the game will launch this year.
During a recent live stream, Vice President of Marvel’s Digital Media Group Ryan Penagos talked about the games based on Marvel comics that will launch this year. During the stream, Penagos mentioned that both Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man and Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite will launch in 2017.
However, he did not reveal any specific release window, but if the game is truly to release this year we might be seeing more of the upcoming game soon, perhaps at this year’s E3.
Spider-Man is one of the many games in development based on Marvel characters. According to Jay Ong, Spiderman is just the beginning for the Marvel to bring its comic book characters to consoles.
When I joined Marvel two years ago, I came in with a mandate to usher in a new era for Marvel Games. We have a treasure trove of the best superhero characters on earth. What can we do with this to create truly epic games?
Is [Spider-Man] a signal of things to come? Oh, yes. Absolutely. And we can’t wait to tell the world about it.
Ong added that Marvel aims to make best games possible for their superheroes, and that is why they are being very selective with whom to partner with.
Spider-Man PS4 is an upcoming open-world action adventure game in development at Insomniac Games exclusively for PlayStation 4.
