A number of Naughty Dog classics will be making a triumphant return to the Playstation 4, particularly the Jak and Daxter PS2 classics. The games, starring the titular duo, were some of the original games that put Naughty Dog on the map alongside Crash Bandicoot and other games like them.
The Jak and Daxter games tell the story of the titular pair, who live in a fictional world crawling with monsters and the forgotten ruins of an ancient race.
Early in the first game Daxter is transformed into a hybrid between an otter and a weasel known as an ottsel, and remains like that throughout the game.
The Jak and Daxter PS2 classics are a mix of driving, racing, shooting, and platforming in terms of gameplay, though in typical Naughty Dog style their stories were also a big part of the game.
Players also collected a substance known as Eco, which helped Jak to increase his abilities as he picked up various colors of Eco (of which there were six).
Pretty much every Jak and Daxter game made by Naughty Dog will be coming to the Playstation 4, including the original Jak and Daxter, Jak 2, and Jak 3. Jak X: Combat Racing will also be getting the same treatment.
The games will be upgrading to 1080p rendering with trophy support, and all will be coming later this year.
The Jak and Daxter games were previously re-released onto the Playstation 3 in 2012, but now they’re being upgraded even further and released onto the Playstation 4.
While the Jak and Daxter PS2 classics re-release for the Playstation 4 doesn’t have an actual release date yet, hoefully Naughty Dog will announce one soon.
So, despite Naughty Dog developing Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy and The Last Of Us 2, it seems like we’ll still have plenty of Naughty Dog products to tide us over this year.
