Deck13 Interactive’s science-fiction RPG, The Surge, will apparently have support for both the Playstation 4 Pro and the Xbox One Scorpio. However, there won’t be a Nintendo Switch version in the foreseeable future. The game is supposed to be releasing on May 16 of this year for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The Surge tells the story of a dystopian future Earth that’s been ravaged by resource deprivation. The remnants of humanity work out a meagre existence among the ruins. You play as a human that’s using a powered exoskeleton to fight robotic enemies, in what the developers call a mix between the Souls games and Rise of the Robots.
Deck13 Interactive is also responsible for another Souls-like game, Lords of the Fallen, which took place in a fantasy setting rather than post-apocalyptic science fiction.
While we don’t really know very much about The Surge beyond that bare-bones description, Deck13 Interactive wanting to port it to the Playstation 4 Pro and the Xbox One Scorpio shows they have some confidence in its visuals.
While the versions of the game for the Playstation 4 Pro and Xbox One Scorpio won’t be anything special, they will have some unique implementations for the two premium consoles. While the Xbox One Scorpio still doesn’t have a confirmed release date, the Playstation 4 Pro people can see what the game will look like on their system.
In regards to the Nintendo Switch, Deck13 Interactive has said that, while they really like the Switch, they have no plans to port their game over to the console right now. However, those plans may change in the future, so Switch players may get the game on their own console at some point in the future.
The Surge, once again, will be releasing on May 16 of this year on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC platforms.
