While Final Fantasy XV DLC content may already have been listed, focusing on the side characters; Gladio, Prompto and Ignis, it seems that Square Enix still has more plans for the game.
In an interview with Game Legends, game director Hajime Tabata talked about future Final Fantasy XV DLC plans and hinted that there might be more content than what has already been mentioned in the season pass.
When asked whether there were any plans to explore Ardyn’s past in the game, Tabata responded by saying:
Yes, we do have some plans on that. Please look forward to it.
Ardyn Izunia, the chancellor of Niflheim is perhaps one of the most interesting characters in the game but despite that big reveal near the end of the game, not a whole lot is known about his back story.
If another story based Final Fantasy XV DLC does get released besides the episodes focusing on Noctis’ companions, it makes sense it would be about Ardyn considering he had the most screen time in the game as well.
Tabata also talked about the long development period of the game, especially the shift from Versus XIII, which was supposed to be the original title and design of the game, to Final Fantasy XV.
Speaking of long development, the game’s art director Isamu Kamikokuryo also announced recently that he is leaving Square Enix after working with the company for 18 years.
A multiplayer aspect to the game in future DLC has also been teased and Tabata talked further upon that during his interview.
Final Fantasy XV is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One. While there is no confirmation of a PC version, there is still hope that the game will get released on the platform eventually like other titles in the franchise. The game recently received its first story DLC, Episode Gladio.
