CD Projekt Might Develop a Sequel to The Witcher 3, But Geralt Won’t Be Starring In It

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is the last Game that will star Geralt of Rivia, however, this may not be the final game in the franchise, during CD Projekt Red’s latest management meeting, the executives stressed that since the series is a trilogy, so the fourth game in Geralt’s story may not make sense.

The Witcher was designed as a trilogy and a trilogy cannot have a fourth part, can it?” an executive said during a Q& A session that followed the results briefing. “We like this world a lot. We invested 15 years of our lives in it and a lot of money. So, we’ll think about [making a fourth Witcher game].

CD Projekt is currently working on Gwent The Witcher Card game and Cyberpunk 2077, and the polish studio is additionally working on  AAA title.

CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski said: “it would be unfair to fans of the series not to make the fourth game”. The Witcher 3 was a commercial success, so The Witcher 4 coming to market seem possible. I mean for entertainment purpose, not as a money-making scheme, that would just be disappointing.

Marcin Iwinski, the boss of CD Projekt Red said previously, that

The Witcher series deserves some rest, the past 10 years the team has been working on swords and castles and medieval Slavic monsters. So I think it’s time for some guns, androids, and some ammo.

CD Projekt has focused its full attention to Cyberpunk 2077, and even if there is a possibility The Witcher 3 gets another sequel, it won’t be happening anytime soon.

Cyberpunk 2077 would be taking the next year for its updates and expansions, so we would have to wait a few years for The Witcher 4 to be even officially announced.
