The platformer Yooka-Laylee will be releasing for consoles and PC within next month, but there’s still no clue on the Yooka-Laylee Nintendo Switch version.
However Nintendo Fans, the development team Playtonic is working hard to release the game as soon as possible, as confirmed by Andy Robinson, so you’ll just have to wait a little longer.
During an interview with Game Reactor, Andy Robinson has said that Playtonic is working directly with Nintendo to push out Yooka-Laylee Nintendo Switch as fast as they can, but unfortunately he couldn’t go into specifics.
Independence is important for devs, says Robinson, so they are trying to expand the Playtonic Universe on their own, without being helped by other companies.
Anyhow, JonTron (one of the voices of Yooka-Laylee) has been removed due to his personal views about immigration and ethnicity.
Playtonic didn’t like his point of view, especially since they support diversity in their games, so his removal was inevitable.
This is what the team has said about the question:
JonTron is a talented video presenter who we were initially, two years ago, happy to include as a voice contributor in our game. However, in light of his recent personal viewpoints we have made the decision to remove JonTron’s inclusion in the game via a forthcoming content update. We would like to make absolutely clear that we do not endorse or support JonTron’s personal viewpoints and that, as an external fan contributor, he does not represent Playtonic in any capacity.
What do you think about that? Did the team made the right decision?
Yooka-Laylee is a platformer video game by Playtonic that will release on April 11th, 2017, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. No launch date yet for the Switch version.
