Sources Confirm Call of Duty: World War 2
This year’s Call of Duty is going to be named Call of Duty: World War 2, according to sources close to Eurogamer. The rumor of this year’s Call of Duty being set in World War started a few days ago when a few images were leaked online.
Developer Sledgehammer hasn’t said a word but a number of sources have already confirmed the existence of a World War based COD for 2017. Going back to World War is a great idea, one that the co-founder of Sledgehammer Games mentioned himself.
Back in 2014 after the release of Advanced Warfare, Micheal Condrey expressed his desire to work on a World War 2 game.
A next generation game with the latest production values and robustness in a World War 2 setting like Band of Brothers would be amazing.
The last time we stepped foot in this timeline was when Call of Duty: World at War released in 2008. Call of Duty’s high points lay within games based on World War. Going back to World War 2 in 2017 would not only be nostalgic but something that can manage to satisfy a better part of the community that has been begging for change.
Call of Duty: WW2 should be announced in the coming days and its multiplayer reveal should be expected at E3 2017. Sony will most probably do the owners of revealing the multiplayer mode for the game.
Following the amazing Battlefield 1 with a World War game would not be easy for Sledgehammer Games. However, the studio has a talented team at its disposal.
Call of Duty: World War 2, if it happens, will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio versions are also expected.
