Injustice 2 Region Lock Is Not A Thing; The Game Will Be Playable Everywhere
One of the biggest fears for games that are being released worldwide is the possibility of region-locking, that is, that games that are playable in one area of the world aren’t playable in another. Thankfully, Injustice 2 region lock isn’t something that NetherRealm Studios is implementing in their own upcoming game.
The reason that this is newsworthy is because the previous entry in the series, Injustice: Gods Among Us, was region locked, which left players unable to buy games from other countries and play them in their own consoles.
Obviously that wasn’t an acceptable workaround, so NetherRealm has already won the good graces of gamers everywhere.
The weird thing is, Injustice 2 region lock would have only been a thing on Playstation consoles. The original Injustice was region-locked on the Playstation 3, and even continued over when the game was ported to the Playstation 4.
The same thing also happened for a variety of other NetherRealm games, though exactly why probably isn’t known (unless it’s a violence issue.)
So now, if you end up buying a copy of Injustice 2 from another country and want to play it on a Playstation 4 or other console that was made in a different region of the world (say an American wanting to buy a European copy for some reason), you’ll be able to do it, no questions asked. You’ll also be able to fight people in other regions.
The Injustice 2 region lock announcement couldn’t come at a better time, especially since the game will be releasing in May, only around two months away. The game releases on May 16 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
So, if you have any of the three platforms and you have friends abroad that you’ve been wanting to play the game with, you don’t have much longer to wait until you can start fighting your friends.
