Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti Overclocked To 3 GHz Using Liquid Nitrogen

Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti just came out recently and there are people that are waiting for the custom versions of the GPU. The Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti is an enthusiast GPU for people that like living on the bleeding edge and want to play games at 4K.

We have seen the performance of the GPU and we know that it can handle gaming at 4K 60 FPS most of the time. Nvidia said that the GPU has a lot of overclocking potential and that it is able to overlock above 2 GHz but did not specify the ceiling for the overclock.

New benchmarks have been found on the internet and they show that someone was able to get the GPU to 3 GHz. That is pretty amazing as compared to the 2,707 MHz boost clock that the card has to offer out of the box. Looking at the benchmarks we see that the GPU was able to go up to 3,024 MHz which is pretty significant.

As of right now we do not know whether this was a custom model or a reference model.

If I was to take venture a guess I would say that this was an EVGA custom GTX 1080 Ti and that it was overclocked using liquid nitrogen. It is just not possible to get such a light overclock on air of liquid cooling even.

We are still waiting on the custom models of the GTX 1080 Ti and we will give you more information regarding these models when they are released. The GTX 1080 Ti is indeed a very powerful GPU and something to consider if you are planning to build a 4K capable gaming PC.
