A couple of weeks back, Blizzard promised that it would reveal new Hearthstone cards from the upcoming Journey to Un’Goro expansion pack later in the month.
Last night, senior game designer Peter Whalen partnered with Sean “Day” Plott to host a live stream. Together, the duo revealed eleven new cards from the upcoming expansion pack, as well as three new Token cards.
The developer also confirmed that another round of reveal will take place next week at the Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT) Bahamas event, with more reveals planned later on until the expansion officially launches.
During the stream, Blizzard answered several questions from the community. Quest cards, a new mechanic being added to the game, can indeed be counter-spelled. That will certainly help players to make sure that their opponents are delayed in maturing their Quest cards.
Quests are Legendary cards that can be added to a deck, and will always appear in the opening hand with a one-mana cost. Once played, the player must fulfill certain conditions to complete the quest. Doing so will summon an extremely powerful card with great rewards.
Among the new cards, one has the community pretty excited. Elise the Trailblazer has a Battlecry that shuffles a sealed Journey to Un’Goro card pack into your deck. The developer confirmed that Elise will not mimic in-game packs. Players, though, will get a guaranteed epic card, with better chances at attaining Legendary cards. You can see how the card works below:
Journey to Un’Goro will release in early April and feature 135 new cards in total. Pre-orders have begun and interested individuals can pay $49.99 to attain 50 Journey to Un’Goro card packs.
On that note, Amazon began a special promotional campaign earlier today that offers 500 Amazon Coins for free. Of course, the new pre-order incentive is only applicable if you purchase the expansion from the retailer’s official page.
