EA has multiple Star Wars games in development under different studios and this year we will see the release of Star Wars Battlefront 2, which is in development at DICE. However, Respawn Entertainment is working on a Star Wars game and the studio is talking about it anytime soon.
Respawn Entertainment announced over a year ago that it is working on a Star Wars title and since then the studio has not shared any details regarding it and the studio has now clarified that it won’t be talking about its upcoming Star Wars game anytime soon.
Titanfall isn’t the only game being worked on here at Respawn. Stig Asmussen, who previously worked on the God of War franchise, has been leading a separate team that has been quietly working away on our Star Wars title. That project is still wrapped in secrecy and we won’t be talking about it for a while.
As for the Star Wars Battlefront 2, during the recent Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Jorgensen said that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is “dramatically larger” than 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront. He also confirmed that the sequel will feature “a lot of new characters” from the newer Star Wars movies. He added that Star Wars universe is very vast and it is “unbelievable to build games” in it.
Visceral Games is also working on an action-adventure Star Wars title and former Uncharted director, Amy Hennig, is directing it.
According to Amy, the new Star Wars game will be spiritually similar to Uncharted series. She insisted that it won’t be “Star Wars uncharted” and said that it is an important distinction to be made.
The new Star Wars game from Visceral Games will be an action adventure title and is speculated to launch in 2018 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
