As announced by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Horizon: Zero Dawn sales now exceed 2.6 million. This makes it the best-selling 1st party PlayStation 4 IP and the biggest Guerrilla Games launch so far.
The number both includes retail copies and digital purchases.
Hermen Hulst, Guerrilla Games Managing Director, has expressed his positive feelings about the question, and he has also claimed that the company is currently working on an expansion to the Horizon: Zero Dawn’s story:
We’re thrilled that Horizon Zero Dawn has been embraced by critics and players alike. Developing the game was a labor of love, so it’s extremely satisfying to see that it elicits the same passion and enthusiasm from the gaming public that we felt during its development. This is only the beginning of Aloy’s story and our exploration of the world of Horizon Zero Dawn, with the team already hard at work on an expansion to the story.
Even Sony has discussed Horizon: Zero Dawn Sales. They are very proud that a brand new IP has managed to achieve such a result, but the best part is the support that both Guerrilla and the game are receiving from fans.
However, Guerrilla Games might release a new chapter of the series in the next years.
They haven’t started working on the project yet, but they already know what to do. One of the first element to change is main character.
The company has said, in fact, that Zero Dawn has a lot of characters and tribes, and there could possibility for most of them to become the protagonist. Also, most of the unsolved mysteries that players have found in the first chapter might come back in the next game.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is an action RPG video game developed by Guerrilla Games for PlayStation 4 only.
