Gears of War 4 Almost Came to Earth, Bleszinski Considered Blowing Up Sera

Gears of War 4 almost came to Earth? Yes Please!

Gears of War is the brainchild of ex- Epic Games creator Cliff Bleszinski. The franchise was sold to Microsoft after the end of Gears of War 3. Cliff Bleszinski on the other hand, left the studio and started working on a new multiplayer shooter, Lawbreakers.

However, Bleszinski will always be known as the creator one of the best shooters of all time. He is often asked about how he would have developed Gears of War 4 if he was in charge of the project and finally he gave an answer. During his time at Epic Games and while brainstorming ideas for the next Gears (during Gears 3 development), Bleszinski considered bringing Gears of War to Earth.

He considered blowing up Sera:

I can’t remember the specifics, I think the Locust winded up burrowing back underground, and Sera exploded. The core of Sera, over many many years, wound up solidifying. And then all of a sudden you see a spaceman boot land on it, and you hear ‘That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.’ It turns out their moon was Earth, it was always like the Moon and the Earth in the past, and our Moon is the remnants of Sera

The story of Gears of War 3 would have been much darker if Gears 4 was to be set on Earth. It is an intriguing idea, one that The Coalition should definitely consider.
