Ubisoft is offering its extreme sports game Steep for free on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC this weekend, starting from March 10 to March 13.
Steep takes place in the Alps as players take on the role of extreme sports athletes who ski and snowboard and wingsuit around the mountain peaks.
The game has a heavy emphasis on online multiplayer, allowing you to skate down all of the most extreme courses of the Alps with your friends or from people you meet around the world.
Hidden races and exploration challenges also provide you with different objectives if you want to get away from the main courses for a while.
In Steep, you can ski, snowboard, wingsuit, and paraglide all around the mountains on a variety of courses. You can start anywhere from the top of a mountain, and can even mess with your fellow athletes by enabling the “collide” feature to bump into them.
This probably got the most work out of the game’s E3 2016 presentation, where at least to player avatars crashed into the ground.
The crashing, in fact, might be one of the game’s best draws. If your character wipes out, you have the option to immediately retry the course, and also can view the amount of G-forces your character got hit with when they smashed into the mountainside like a bug on a windshield.
Steep came out late last year and received favorable reviews, with reviewers praising the game’s visuals and variety but criticizing the game’s noticeable technical issues.
Hopefully in the time between then and now Ubisoft has been able to fix the game’s problems, so that the free weekend can progress smoothly.
Once again, the free weekend will be running from March 10 to March 13, so if you’re looking for something to spend your weekend on, Steep may be the game for you.
