A new digital comic short called Binary has been released for Overwatch, telling just how Bastion and Torbjörn came to meet for the first time.
Set in rural Sweden shortly after the fall of Overwatch, Bastion took up residence in the forests outside of a small village. However, when locals accidentally discovered the battle bot, they deemed it a threat that must be taken care of.
Torbjörn volunteered to lead the hunting party, only to later realize that this particular Bastion unit was showing no signs of aggression. Having a hand in the construction of the originals, Torbjörn was well-aware of how they are programmed to fight against any odds until they are destroyed. Hence, it confused Torbjörn over the intentions of the Bastion in front of him.
There is no need to spoil the ending. If you’re interested in the backstory of the two Overwatch heroes, download the entire comic strip here. You can also experience the action and sound of this story through the Madefire motion book on desktop, mobile, and Apple TV.
Binary is written by Matt Burns and James Waugh, and illustrated by Joe Ng and Espen Grundetjern. It is the first story comic released for Overwatch this year, with the last releasing during the holiday season when Blizzard released a short to celebrate the festive occasion.
Yesterday, lead writer Michael Chu confirmed that there is a lot of story-related content planned out for Overwatch this year. This includes the continuation of Orisa’s story, which will probably lead into the unveiling of Doomfist and a grand showdown between multiple heroes of the Overwatch universe. After all, there is still no word on who stole the gauntlet.
He also teased something special for the community that was “just around the corner”. It is safe to say that the tease was for today’s release of Binary.
