The adventure game Syberia 2, a product of Microïds, is currently free to download on EA’s Origin platform. Syberia came out in 2004 on Playstation 2 and the original Xbox, and was recently re-released onto Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, along with OSX and PC, back in 2015. It’s the sequel to 2003’s original Syberia game.
Syberia tells the story of a woman named Kate Walker as she leaves her stressful job in New York City to travel to the town of Syberia in Russia in the company of an eccentric inventor.
Considering how both games have been re-released recently, it’s likely a prelude to the third entry in the series. Syberia 3 was supposed to come out several years ago, but various delays have pushed it back to April 2017.
According to EA, Syberia 3 would come out for all currently available platforms, ranging from Triple-A consoles like the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, to the PC, iOS, Android, and OSX. It would continue Kate Walker’s adventures in the game’s own steampunk setting.
In order to pick up Syberia 2 free for yourself, all you have to do is log into Origin (if you have an account for it) and head to the “Free Games” section.
After that it’s just a quick download and you can start playing the game, and can even play through the first one too if you want to look it up and buy it.
Considering the game’s age it’s probably fairly cheap, and the games have gotten a good reception too.
And, if you end up liking Syberia and Syberia 2, then who knows? You might end up liking the series enough to buy the third game when it comes out in late April. In the meantime, you can fill that gap with both of the currently available Syberia games on Origin or Steam.
