It seems that Naughty Dog has almost made up its mind about moving away from the Uncharted series after the release of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which could be the last entry in the franchise from the studio.
Speaking with GameInformer, studio co-president Evan Wells said that another Uncharted game from Naughty Dog is very unlikely after Uncharted: The Lost Legacy as the studio has a lot of stuff going on for it.
I would say that Naughty Dog doing an Uncharted after this is unlikely. I would never say never, but we’ve got The Last of Us Part 2 on our plates and there’s so much other stuff that [we want to explore].
He further explained that the studio really loves the Uncharted series but ” but the studio has limited resources and lots of other ideas”.
While the studio might be moving away from the franchise but that does not mean that there won’t be any new entry in the franchise as Sony Interactive Entertainment controls the rights to the Uncharted brand. If Sony wants to make another one then it can get another studio to develop the game.
As for the Uncharted: The Lost Legacy game director Kurt Margenau has revealed that the chemistry between the both characters will be exciting in Uncharted The Lost Legacy.
The idea of the chemistry of Nadine and Chloe together, it gets the gears turning and it’s exciting to think about the prospects of where that relationship could go.
He further added that the team wanted the game’s protagonist Chloe to have her own personality that would distinct her from Nathan Drake.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is scheduled to launch later this year exclusively for PlayStation 4.
