Bandai Namco released a new character reveal trailer last night, confirming that Eddy Gordo will be bringing his unpredictable fighting style to Tekken 7.
Time hasn’t slowed Eddy down, it has only helped him evolve his Brazilian martial arts to combine dance and acrobatics into deadly moves that leave opponents guessing.
We all remember the vintage arcade days when Eddy was designed to do fairly well with the average button-bashing. The reveal trailer leaves us guessing as to whether Bandai Namco is bringing back that rather frustrating element with Tekken 7 as well.
Confirmation of Eddy’s inclusion in the final roster arrives a week after blurry photos of him were leaked from an exclusive Tekken 7 press event held in Brazil. It’s assumed that game director Katsuhiro Harada revealed more at the event than just Eddy. We’re likely to know more in the coming weeks.
Eddy is one of the most popular characters in the series. He made his debut in the arcade version of Tekken 3 in 1997 but took time off in the later installments. His character slot was filled by his sister, Christie Monteiro, who brought the same fighting style to the table. However, Eddy returned with Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and will now with the new installment.
Tekken 7 hits shelves on June 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-ordering the digital version nets you an exclusive Tekken 7 theme alongside Eliza, the seemingly immortal blood-sucking vampire.
For console owners, it’s best to begin saving precious storage space for the game. According to Bandai Namco, Tekken 7 will take a minimum of 42 GB of space on PlayStation 4. This requirement is for North American residents, with the European version weighing in at 45 GB.
Tekken 7: Fated Retribution was previously slated for a release early this year. However, Bandai Namco announced last month that the game is being pushed to July in order to ensure a complete and stable release.
