The first official downloadable content for Battlefield 1, the They Shall Not Pass DLC, has finally gotten a trailer and a release date. The DLC will be adding the French Army to the game, along with new maps, weapons, operations, and more.
It will be releasing on March 28 on all platforms.
The French Army was not an original part of the game for some reason, an announcement that angered the genre’s more historically-knowledgeable fans. However, now the French are going to be getting their turn in the spotlight.
The four new maps in the They Shall Not Pass DLC all take place during one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the war: the Battle of Verdun, where the German Army attempted an offensive against the French trenches. The battle lasted eleven months and caused over a million casualties.
The four maps included are Fort Vaux (a fortress that was the center of heavy fighting), the Verdun Heights, Soissons, and the map Rupture.
A new Behemoth, the French Char 2C tank, is also going to be offered. Players will also be able to take part in the Frontlines game mode, a mix between Conquest and Rush. A new Elite Class will also be playable.
The They Shall Not Pass DLC is will be the first of four different Battlefield 1 DLC packs. The next one that will come out, called “In the Name of the Tsar,” will bring in more maps and will also add the Russian Army to the game’s multiplayer.
For players that have a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass, they can expect to pick up the DLC on March 14 on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until March 28 to get the DLC for yourself. In the meantime, players had better brush up on their French before the DLC comes out.
