With the Nintendo Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild coming out this Friday, a Redditor has leaked a few Breath of the Wild Wii U screenshots, showing how the game will look on Nintendo’s previous-generation console, not to mention that the game will have Wii U Pro controller support.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was originally going to be for the Wii U, but was also announced for the Nintendo Switch once the console was unveiled, as a launch title. It’s already been said that the Switch version of the game is going to look better, but these new screenshots give us an idea of what the game will look like on the Wii U.
The difference in resolution and graphical fidelity is going to be the main difference in how these Breath of the Wild Wii U screenshots look in comparison to what would be the same screenshots on the Nintendo Switch. The Switch runs at 900p resolution, while the Wii U can only manage 720p. While these are nowhere close to the coveted 1080p, the Switch is still unashamedly better.
At the same time, the Wii U version will have Wii U Pro controller support, allowing what might be a better controller method than using the Wii U gamepad.
Considering how vivid and colorful Breath of the Wild is going to be, Wii U copies of the game may not sell as well as the Switch. Depending on how well the console is received, Breath of the Wild will likely underperform on the Wii U, while hopefully smashing records on the Switch.
Either way, if you want to see the Breath of the Wild Wii U screenshots, you can look further up this article to see all of them (though they’re not in-game screenshots). The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild comes out on March 3 on Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
