Bioshock creator, Ken Levine, has finally revealed his new studio, Ghost Story, and also confirmed that the studio is working on a game.
Ghost Story is based in Boston and staff consists of the former Irrational Games’ developers. Also, the studio has been operational for quite some time.
Ken Levine revealed that he and other devs have been working on a game quietly for past couple of years and are now hiring for key positions at the studio. The studio describes the game as an immersive sci-fi game with RPG elements and is in early stages of development.
As a new studio we are excited to be working on our maiden game! However, individually our team members have been involved in the development and release of many games, including but not limited to System Shock 2, BioShock and BioShock Infinite, which were directed by Ken Levine under our former moniker Irrational Games.
While we believe our new games will have strong appeal to fans of BioShock, our new focus allows us to craft experiences where the gameplay is as challenging as the stories.
Ken Levine is known for developing Bioshock games and he explained has explained why he stopped making Bioshock games. According to Ken, developing Bioshock games started to have an adverse effect on his health and life.
I saw a picture of me when we first announced it. That was 2010. And then I saw a picture of me after I did an interview on NPR when we shipped it in 2013. And I look 10 years older. It changed my life in terms of what it did to my health, and what it did to my view of making games, and my relationships with people.
Ghost Story is yet to announce its game, and given that the studio is lead by Ken Levine we are sure that it will be a masterpiece.
