With the release date for Nier Automata getting ever closer, Square Enix and Platinum Games have released a new trailer that also announced the Nier Automata Steam release date: March 10, 2017. The game will be releasing on both the Playstation 4 and the PC, so Steam is a vital part of that.
Nier Automata is the distant sequel to the original Nier, which was released in 2010. In this entry in the series, developed by character action masters Platinum Games, Mankind is in the midst of a 14th war against rogue machines. Using childlike androids to combat them, the two main characters, 2B and her companion 9S, must make their way through the landscape to win the war.
Knowing the Nier games this is likely only the surface plot of the game, and it will likely be even deeper when it actually comes out. But for now, the release of a Nier Automata Steam Release date puts the game one step closer to its release in early March, on March 7 to be precise (in North America, at least, with March 10 in other regions and February 23 in Japan).
Nier Automata will be Platinum Games’s first Triple-A outing in some time; the studio hasn’t had much luck with games lately, with its licensed games (The Legend of Korra, Transformers: Devastation, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan) not doing very well critically and its highly anticipated game Scalebound cancelled by Microsoft under shady circumstances. Nier Automata is its only project currently, but hopefully it’ll be good enough to catapult it back into the prestige that the studio deserves.
The Nier Automata Steam release date is a bit further along than the Playstation 4 date, so if you’re planning on getting the game on PC you’ll have to wait a bit longer than normal. Otherwise look forward to Automata coming out March 7 on Playstation 4, and March 10 on PC.
