With Guerrilla Games’s Horizon Zero Dawn only around a week from release in North America and Europe, the first Horizon Zero Dawn comparison video has come out detailing exactly how good it’s going to look, being one of the first games that have been specifically developed for the Playstation 4 Pro and Playstation 4.
The Playstation 4 Pro hasn’t really had a good launch so far, at least in terms of game quality; in many instances, the patches that were supposed to make them be able to run on a Playstation 4 Pro instead have made the game perform worse. Horizon Zero Dawn, however, is a different beast because it’s been developed with the Pro in mind.
The Horizon Zero Dawn comparison video is the product of the YouTube channel Arekkz Gaming, who talked about a variety of things that will make the game look better in the Playstation 4 Pro’s 4K as opposed to the 1080p resolution of the regular Playstation 4, such as an anti-aliasing technique called “super-sampling”, which allows them to render the game at a higher resolution before shrinking it down to Playstation 4 levels. This allows the game to still look good, despite being downscaled from the Pro. This will, however, also result in making the 1080p setting on the Playstation 4 Pro look slightly different from the regular PS4 version.
The Horizon Zero Dawn comparison video also goes into how the game supports 4K TVs, and so the image quality isn’t going to suffer whether you put it on a 4K TV or not; it’ll just look slightly better depending on which console you’re playing the game on.
There’s a lot more new stuff in the video, so if you want to check it out for yourself you can go further up the article and take a look at it yourself to see just how good Guerrilla’s newest game looks.
