The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC that Nintendo will eventually be releasing after the game comes out is still in development for now, with apparently no release date in sight just yet. However, with all the stuff it’s going to be bringing to the table, the wait’ll likely be worth it.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is breaking new ground when it comes to DLC in the Zelda series, as none of the main games have ever had DLC before. The fact that the DLC is still being worked on is probably a factor of that; most of Nintendo’s games are fairly self-contained, but since Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros, Nintendo has been putting more DLC in its games.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC will be coming with a $20 season pass, and with that season pass will come two expansions, a new story, a Cave of Trials challenge, a new hard mode, an additional feature to the game’s map, and another dungeon. With all of this new content, plus how big Breath of the Wild is going to be in terms of land area and the content within that land area, it’s not surprising that Nintendo is wanting to get as much mileage as they can out of the wide-open world of Hyrule.
With luck, hopefully all of the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC will be just as good as Breath of the Wild proper, and with as much promotion as the game has gotten not just at the Nintendo Switch event last January, but ever since it was announced at E3 2014, hopefully all of this info will be building up to make Breath of the Wild the greatest Legend of Zelda game that Nintendo’s ever made.
