New Mod Reduces the Infernal Loading Times of Street Fighter V

A member of the fighting game community has managed to tackle an annoying issue with Street Fighter V which has seemingly eluded Capcom all this time.

To say that the game’s loading times are long would be an understatement. Booting the game is a journey in itself, and finally transitioning into an online match is simply an infernal affair.

The nuisance becomes more evident during the versus screen which takes a significant amount of time to load a match once both sides have picked their characters.

According to several community detectives, there is no loading of any kind during the versus screen which is a major design flaw on the part of the developers. The game only begins loading once the versus screen fades to white. This is the main reason why players have to wait for a significant amount of time before they can start pummeling each other.

ToolAssisted has managed to create a friendly mod that drastically reduces the loading times for PC users. The game instantly loads the match as soon as the versus screen flashes white. In most scenarios, the match begins even before the versus screen has properly exited.

You can watch the video below for a short demonstration of how efficient the mod is.

The Street Fighter V mod can be downloaded for free here, and needs to be extracted into your Steam folder: steamapps\common\StreetFighterV\StreetFighterV\Content\Paks.

According to the mod-creator, he has been working on addressing the issue of long loading times for almost a year. Apparently, all the mod does is change a single value called Char Select UI from 60 FPS to 255 FPS. This has brought up concerns that perhaps Capcom was intentionally keeping the loading times long for some reason.

As always, the mod comes with the risk of getting banned from Steam. Though, the creator has claimed that it is clean.
