Nintendo has partnered with dozens of third-party publishers and developers for its upcoming hybrid console, Nintendo Switch. Since the reveal of the console many devs and publishers have praised it and now Bethesda has also complimented Nintendo Switch, but the company is unsure if the console will be a success or not.
Speaking with Gamespot, Bethesda’s game director, Todd Howard, said that Nintendo Switch is a smart thing from Nintendo and it is something that only Nintendo can make.
I think it’s really smart what they’ve done. I think it’s the kind of device that only Nintendo could make. It’s exciting to bring Skyrim to the Nintendo audience.
He added that Nintendo has proved to be a great partner but before that “they were less interested in the types of things that we did or some other groups did”.
Todd further added that while it is a smart platform but expressed that he is unsure of where this console is headed.
“I don’t know where it’s gonna go. But I think it’s a really smart platform. We like it a lot.
Bethesda is bringing is widely popular RPG, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, to the hybrid console. Also, Bethesda has clarified that it won’t be a simple port but will also have PC-like mod support like the remastered version.
However, this might not be only third party RPG released for Nintendo Switch as Square Enix has also hinted that they are interested in bringing their MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, to Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo Switch will be available on March 3, 2017, and will be priced at $299.99 in the US and Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild will be one of many launch titles for the console.
