Cloud Imperium has just revealed a new Star Citizen trailer that showcases the new MISC Prospector ship with fantastic lighting effects for the ships’ interiors.
The MISC Prospector showcased in this new Star Citizen Trailer is a popular mining craft within the game’s universe and “is the preferred mining vessel for solo operators across the UEE”.
The trailer also showcases some really gorgeous lighting effects including how the physical based rendered shaders let the surfaces reacts to different light conditions. This ship also comes with a fancy bed sheet.
Star citizen has been in the development for quite some time as the crowdfunding campaign for the game started back in 2012 and as of January 2017, the game has generated $141 million in funds from backers.
Just recently, after 4 years of development on the game, Cloud Imperium Games revealed that they are switching the game’s engine for its single-player module Squadron 42. In a press release, the studio announced that they are moving from Crytek’s CryEngine for Amazon’s Lumberyard.
We’ve been working with Amazon for more than a year, as we have been looking for a technology leader to partner with for the long term future of Star Citizen and Squadron 42. Lumberyard provides groundbreaking technology features for online games. Because we share a common technical vision, it has been a very smooth and easy transition to Lumberyard.
However, creative director Chris Roberts has assured fans that both companies share a similar technical vision and that is why this transition between Star Citizen game engine has been so smooth.
Star Citizen is a space simulator video game in development at Cloud Imperium Games for Microsoft Windows and Linux.
