Psyonix, the makers of Rocket League, have announced that in next Tuesday’s update, Rocket League PS4 Pro support will be coming to the game, allowing you to play it in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, if you own a Playstation 4 Pro. Most arenas will retain this in three and four-player split screen.
Psyonix has had a reputation for a while now for being willing to port Rocket League to any sort of console that they can, ranging from the Nintendo Switch to the Playstation 4 Pro, and likely even to the Xbox One Scorpio when it comes out. Psyonix has often said that the only thing in their way is if the staff are willing to put in the work, and it appears that, even in this case, they’re willing.
Rocket League PS4 Pro support will, as mentioned above, allow players to play the game in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second on the Playstation 4 Pro, and most of the arenas in the game will be able to run in three player or four player split-screen gameplay. If all of that is true, it means that Psyonix will join the ranks of developers that have actually solidly ported their games over to the Playstation 4 Pro, even after other games have turned out worse.
And even if you don’t have a Playstation 4 Pro, don’t worry. The update coming next week will have plenty for you too. These include new Hot Wheels-style toppers, antennae, and other post-match drops, a “Player’s Choice” crate filled with the community’s most-loved items, and Playstation 4 specific technical improvements, performance optimizations, and bug fixes.
So, whether you have a Playstation 4 Pro to take advantage of the Rocket League PS4 Pro support, or not, you’re sure to at least get a few things out of the new update when it releases a week from now.
