If you’re one of the many people that want EA to release a Skate 4, the company has put something in place that will at least make the wait easier, in the form of putting Skate 3 in the EA Access Vault. The game is now available for subscribers to download on Xbox One.
EA Access is a special service provided by EA, allowing gamers access to older EA games for free if they subscribe to the service, along with a number of other goodies such as early access to various games.
The game is, unfortunately, only available on the Xbox One, so Playstation owners will have to wait and see if it comes to the PSNow service since the version of Skate 3 in the EA Access Vault isn’t available there.
Skate 3 is one of the more popular skating video games in recent memory, popular enough that for a while now people have been bugging EA to make a new one. While there’s no indication of when Skate 4 will actually be worked on (if ever), hopefully Skate 3 can scratch that itch.
The game’s main appeal comes from a small number of factors, mainly the hilarious ragdoll physics and glitches. These catapulted the game’s popularity high enough that in 2014 EA had to re-print the game to meet demand.
The fact that the game also has a mode where the explicit objective is to fall and hurt yourself apparently means that the developers were aware of the appeal that came from hurling your skater off high places and hurting them.
Hopefully the fact that EA has put Skate 3 in the EA Access Vault means that something is going to be announced about the series soon, but in the meantime, go out and enjoy yourselves in Skate 3 if you’re an EA Access member.
