Square Enix has already revealed the DLC roadmap for their critically acclaimed Final Fantasy XV. According to the devs, Episode Gladio will be the first to be released, Episode Prompto will be the second DLC and Episode Ignis will be released in the end. Now the game director has explained the reason for this order.
Speaking with Dualshocker, game director, Hajime Tabata, explained the reason for the order of the episodes. According to Tabata, from the beginning, the team had planned that Episode Gladio will be the first DLC of the three, as the team planned to deliver enhanced action battle gameplay.
He added that Episode Ignis will be released in the last because the events of this Final Fantasy XV DLC will have a significant impact on the game’s story and the team needs time to create a solid experience, sort of like saving their best for the last.
Recently, Hajime Tabata revealed that Final Fantasy XV broke even its development cost on day one of its launch. Which is impressive as before the release Square Enix revealed that in order for the game to be successful it has to sell 10 million units, and the game sold over 5 million units at launch.
Hajime Tabata has also confirmed off-road Regalia for the game that will allow players to freely drive around in the world, but it’s still in development and is currently unknown when it will arrive. This will be a welcome update for the game since many fans were disappointed that they could not freely control the Regalia.
Final Fantasy XV is an open-world action adventure game developed by Square Enix for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
