PS4 System Software Update 6.0 Sign-Ups Now Live

Sony Interactive Entertainment has been supporting PS4 with new features and now it has opened up sign-ups for PS4 system software Update 6.0.

Sony Interactive Entertainment might not be as active as Microsoft when it comes to rolling out system updates with new features but, it does listen to feedback and rolls out system updates for the PlayStation 4 to improve the user experience. With that in mind, Sony has opened sign-ups for PS4 system software Update 6.0.

While Sony has opened up the sign-ups but, it didn’t reveal what the PS4 system software Update 6.0 will be bringing to the console.

Currently, the sign-ups are available in North America and Japan while there is no word on when the sign-ups will be available for Europe. Follow the links below to sign-up for PS4 system software Update 6.0.

The sign-ups for PS4 system software Update 6.0 are open till July 27 and users need to be the member of PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now in order to sign-up.

Speaking of the PlayStation 4, Sony has introduced a new PS4 model(CUH-2200).

However, No hardware changes have been listed by Sony Interactive Entertainment but, the change in model number suggests that Sony has done a minor revision of the internal components.

Furthermore, both Sony and Microsoft have been pushing 4K gaming in the console market and to some extent, Microsoft has been successful in doing that with Xbox One X.

However, according to AMD’s Timothy Lottes both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X don’t have the power required to achieve true 4K gaming on consoles as next-gen consoles require at least 7.4 TFLOPs of GPU compute to play games at native 4K/30 FPS with PS4’s image quality.

For comparison sake, the PS4 Pro features 4.2 TFLOPs of GPU compute while the Xbox One X features 6 TFLOPs.

Also, Sony might be preparing to use AMD Ryzen APU for PlayStation 5. Sony’s compiler expert Simon Pilgrim who is apparently working on AMD Ryzen “znver1” microarchitecture support within the LLVM compiler stack.
