PC Games Will Take a Year to Port on Nintendo Switch: Miyamoto

Nintendo Switch will probably get plenty of third party games but porting PC based games will take a decent amount of time.

Nintendo Switch will not only see a decent chunk of first party games but its maker has penned deals with major third party publishers. Companies like EA, Ubisoft, Activision and others are working on Switch games.

However, due to how things were with the Wii U it would take some time for publishers to regain faith in Nintendo. It is likely that publishers would prefer porting their old games to Nintendo Switch and test the waters rather than spending on a new IP for the platform.

Porting games to Nintendo Switch shouldn’t take that long, should it? Well, do you consider one year as a long time? Because that is how long it will take to port a game developed with PC in mind to Nintendo Switch.

According to analyst Hideki Yasuda, Miyamoto confirmed the duration during Nintendo’s Corporate Management Policy Briefing. Nintendo Switch is using a Nvidia TEGRA X1 chip, the same one that powers Nvidia Shield Tv. It is surprising to know that it would take a year to port PC-based games to Nintendo Switch and we can’t rule out the possibility of Yasuda misquoting Miyamoto.

Here are the publishers/developers working with Nintendo.
