Far Cry 5 Might Be Releasing In November 2017 According To GameStop

GameStop seems to have jumped the gun and not only announced the presence of Far Cry 5 but also the release date, which is set for this year.

Gamestop’s PlayStation 4 Software Upcoming Releases list recently got updated and the new list listed Far Cry 5 for PS4 with a release date of 26th November 2017.

SG Gaming Info contacted the video game retailer regarding the listing and an employee confirmed that they did have a listing for the game with a release date in November, although it may not necessarily be the 26th of November which happens to be a Sunday.

The listing itself was printed on 27th January and since then there has been no official confirmation or denial from Ubisoft, the developers and publishers of the Far Cry franchise.

The previous iteration of the franchise, Far Cry Primal was released in February 2016 so seeing another game just one and a half year after the launch of a previous title might be worrisome for a lot of fans.

Similar to Assassin’s Creed franchise, Far Cry seems to be adopting a yearly release schedule as well which clearly shows in the quality of both Far Cry 4 and Far Cry Primal. Both games didn’t feel like a huge leap from Far Cry 3 and felt as if they were just a coat of paint on the previous game design.

A statement from Ubisoft last year suggested that there might not be a Far Cry game in 2017 as the developers were open to skipping a year or two if it meant creating a better game.

The Assassin’s Creed franchises, have been criticized for lazy game design and writing for many years now due to a yearly release scheduled actually ended up taking a break in 2016.

After the launch of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in October 2015, there has been no word on when a new game from the franchise will release.
