We had reports that claimed that there will be no AMD Ryzen 6-core processors coming and that the models will be limited to 4-core and 8-core CPUs. But now we are hearing the exact opposite of that. New reports are coming in and they claim that there will be AMD Ryzen 6-core processors coming out.
At the high end we will be seeing the following AMD Ryzen processors:
- 6-core/12-thread – 3.3GHz
- 8-core/16-thread – 3.4GHz
- 8-core/16-thread – 3.6GHz
This makes sense as AMD could easily disable 2 cores on the 8-core version or add 2 additional cores to the 4 core versions and produce AMD Ryzen 6-core processors. It is nothing that the silicon can not handle.
So we will be looking at 4-core, 6-core and 8-core CPUs in the AMD Ryzen CPU line. AMD Ryzen 6-core processors along with the rest of the bunch will be coming out in March which is just a month away. This means that it is most probable that reviewers will be getting their hands on samples by the end of the month.
It will be interesting to see what kind of performance the AMD Ryzen 6-core processors will provide. AMD has still left us in the dark when it comes to pricing of the AMD Ryzen chips and from what we have seen at the demos the only thing that if left out from the equation is pricing. If AMD can price these CPUs right I do not see why AMD can have a great year when it comes to the success of AMD Ryzen CPUs.
AMD will also be releasing Vega based GPUs in the 2nd quarter of 2017, that will also be something worth looking into. This means that AMD will be competing with not only Intel but Nvidia as well. Let us know what you think about AMD Ryzen and vega 10.
