Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture Pack Requires An RX 490?

The mention of the RX 490 was briefly shown on the Bethesda website and has been removed now. It is highly unlikely that this GPU will become a reality, especially under this name. The updated post now reads as follows:

Recommended PC Specs:

  • Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)

  • Intel Core i7-5820K or better

  • GTX 1080 8GB

  • 8GB+ Ram

Bethesda mentioned clearly that you will need a beefed GPU and CPU combo to handle the next Fallout 4 high-resolution textures pack update for PC. However, consider this a mistake; Bethesda listed a recommended GPU for the update which in fact does not even exist. The official website listed AMD’s Radeon RX 490.

Furthermore, let us just consider this a typo mistake at Bethesda’s website for listing RX 490 instead of RX 480. The other recommended GPU is NVIDIA’s GTX 1080, now, the performance gap between RX 480 and GTX 1080 is so wide that makes typo mistake out of the question. In any case, it will be interesting once Bethesda releases officially the high-resolution pack or reveals the existence of Radeon RX 490.

Moreover, the Fallout 4 high-resolution textures pack update in PC requires an additional 58GB. The publisher further said:

Make sure you have an additional 58 GB of available and that your system meets/exceeds the recommended specs below

Additionally, the recommended suggested specs for Fallout 4 high-resolution update are given below:

  • Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
  • Intel Core i7-5820K or better
  • GTX 1080 8GB/AMD Radeon RX 490 8GB
  • 8GB+ Ram
