Konami Profits Increase By 70% Despite A Fall In Revenue

Konami is known as the publisher of Metal Gear franchise and PES franchise. Now the company has reported its financials for the past nine months ending December 31, 2016.

According to the report, the company saw a 70 % increase in its profits despite the income falling. The company made ¥29.59 billion / $261 million in operating profit which is way more compared to the same time span in 2015 where it made ¥17.42 billion / $153 million in operating profit.

The increase in profits for Konami comes despite a drop in the company’s revenue. The company made a total of ¥163.94 billion / $1.45 billion for the nine month period in 2016 which is 8.5 % less compared to the 2015 revenue.

According to Konami, it managed to increase its profit by combining its arcade games business and its Pachinko machines business into one business which is called “Amusement Business”. The company also highlighted that mobile titles like PES Club Manager and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links also showed strong performance.

Konami has not been that much active as a game publisher and the only game coming out this year from this publisher is Metal Gear Survive.
