According to Ed Boon, the director of NetherRealm Studios, there will be a wide variety of Injustice 2 gameplay changes upon release in the game, mainly via new characters from other franchises, as well as keeping the game’s multiplayer from becoming pay-to-win. Injustice 2 will be releasing on May 16 on Xbox One and Playstation 4.
Injustice 2’s roster will be one of the biggest that NetherRealm Studios has ever produced, taking both launch and DLC characters into account. With characters like the Blue Beetle, Supergirl, Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, Robin, Darksied, Brainiac, and more being added to the game, Ed Boon has also said that characters from other franchises will be added. Considering how such an approach did with Mortal Kombat X (where a number of characters from class horror genres such as Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, the Predator, and the Xenomorph were added in), you can hardly fault them for wanting to do more.
When it comes to the multiplayer component of the Injustice 2 gameplay, Ed Boon has also said that, with the gear component in mind, he wants to make sure that the game isn’t going to be pay-to-win, where players can just buy the best gear via microtransactions and then win against everyone. With this in mind, pieces of gear won’t be sold for money; players will likely have to earn them by playing the game legitimately. The balance of these new perks and gear pieces is supposed to be tested in the game’s upcoming beta.
In addition to the Injustice 2 gameplay, a new trailer talking about the game’s story has also been released, narrated by Brainiac and talking about how the circumstances of the previous Injustice game have led to more conflict among the DC superheroes.
Again, Injustice 2 will be released on May 16 on the Xbox One and the Playstation 4.
